The Schlossrestaurant Neuschwanstein also serves as an Inn and its location is perfect for quick access to the castle.
They had mixed up our reservation a bit... instead of a room for four and a room for two, we were given three rooms for two.
The rooms were clean and comfortable and came with breakfast.
There were lavs in the rooms, but toilets and showers were down the hall in two separate nicely finished areas.
My room had a window that looked out at the castle above which was beautiful.. especially in a late-night thunder and lightning show.
An added advantage to the inn is that guests can drive up the hill and park at the restaurant.
Otherwise, it is long hike or horsecart ride from Hohenschwangau to the castle. No other car traffic is allowed.
At night, guests have access to the inn through a back door with their own key and most, or all, the staff is gone.
We enjoyed playing cards on the back patio in the evening.
The breakfast that comes with the room had a good variety from which to choose. While not gourmet, the food was quite good.
We enjoyed our stay here and would come back again if going to the castle.
